"The artist is engaged in writing a detailed history of the future"

(quote: Marshall McLuhan)

I added a new story to the Short Story page.

A culturally discursive anarchy fragmented by lack of concrete ideology due to dominant forms of mediated interaction, fragmenting and simultaneously uniting the society in its own negation; we've succumbed to democratization without consideration for the driving force behind it. Here, as always, its capital, preying on the unnecessary drive for individuality. McLuhan might have been a bit more grounded in his discourses (I mean socially, in the sense that no one knows what the hell he's saying half the time) had he considered the prevailing economic system a bit more.

McLuhan was not the first to enter into this discourse. There is an entire lost critical tradition coming out of American war efforts in "administrative communicative" (read: control, domination, propaganda) that McLuhan would necessarily be in the shadow of were they more vocal - he was a media darling, constructing his own demise by sort of heeding his own advice. Strangely, many his predecessors were German.
